TrainingPeaks
A planning and analysis platform for endurance sport — running, cycling and triathlon. Coaches build structured plans, assign workouts and analyse completed sessions through metrics including Training Stress Score, with Chronic and Acute Training Load charted on the Performance Management Chart, plus athlete management and messaging tied to the training data.
Loadwell
Reads recovery signals rather than training output. Wearable data and a daily check-in are compared against each athlete's own rolling baseline to produce a prioritised roster with an explanation and a next step.

Planned load versus observed response

This is the distinction worth internalising. Load models are built from what an athlete did: duration, intensity, and the accumulated stress that implies. They are excellent at describing the stimulus you applied.

What they infer less directly is how a particular athlete is absorbing it on a given week. Two athletes with the same chronic load can be in very different states, and the difference shows up in sleep, resting physiology and how they feel long before it shows up in the plan.

Loadwell works from that second set of signals. It has no view of your prescribed load and does not attempt to model it.

Can you use both?

Yes, and for endurance coaches this is the natural arrangement: TrainingPeaks for the plan and the analysis, Loadwell for the response and the triage.

One thing to be clear about: there is no integration between them. Loadwell does not read TrainingPeaks data and nothing syncs automatically. Athletes can type a short training note as context, and that is the extent of training information Loadwell holds.

Which to choose

TrainingPeaks is the better choice if
your central need is prescribing structured endurance training and analysing completed sessions against a load model.
Loadwell is the better fit if
the plan is already handled and the gap is roster-level recovery: knowing which athletes have drifted from their own normal without opening every profile.
Neither, if
you coach a handful of athletes closely enough to already hold all of this in your head. Triage solves a problem of scale.

Frequently asked

Does Loadwell import TrainingPeaks data?
No. There is no integration and no automatic ingestion of training data from any platform. Athletes can add a short manual note about what they trained, which is used as context only.
Does Loadwell calculate TSS or CTL?
No. It does not model training load at all. It reads recovery signals and self-reported context, which is a different input entirely.
Is Loadwell only for endurance coaches?
No. Endurance is one of several coaching niches it suits; hybrid, functional fitness and strength and conditioning rosters are equally well served, because nothing in the product is sport-specific.
