Looking for a TrainingPeaks alternative for recovery monitoring?
If your planning and analysis are working and the missing piece is how athletes are responding, you are looking for an addition rather than a replacement.

Two different halves of the picture
TrainingPeaks is built around the training an athlete has done — structured plans, completed sessions, and load metrics including TSS with chronic and acute load charted over a season. For prescribing and analysing endurance training, that is its purpose and it is well established at it.
Recovery monitoring asks a different question: not what stimulus was applied, but how this particular athlete is absorbing it this week. Sleep, resting physiology and self-reported state carry that, and they carry it per athlete rather than per plan.
Replacing a planning platform with a recovery tool would leave you without the planning. That is not a trade worth making, and Loadwell is not built to make it.
What Loadwell adds
- A baseline per athlete
- A rolling window of that athlete's own readings, so deviation is measured against them rather than a fixed threshold.
- Four-state triage
- Attention, Monitor, Stable, Limited — with the roster ordered by it, so a large squad is readable in minutes.
- Self-reported context
- Energy, mood, soreness and motivation daily, which frequently move before physiology does.
- An explanation and a message
- What changed and how far, plus a drafted check-in you can edit and send.
Be clear on what does not happen
There is no integration between Loadwell and TrainingPeaks. Nothing syncs, no workouts are imported, and no load metrics are read. Athletes can type a short note about what they trained, and that is the whole of the training context Loadwell holds. If automatic ingestion is what you need, Loadwell does not do it today.
When to look elsewhere
- You need load modelling
- If TSS, CTL, ATL and a Performance Management Chart are central to how you coach, Loadwell does not model load and is not a substitute.
- You need device file analysis
- Loadwell does not read workout files, power, pace or GPS data.
- You coach a very small squad
- Triage earns its place at scale. With five athletes you likely already know who needs you.
Frequently asked
- Can Loadwell replace TrainingPeaks?
- No. It has no training plans, no workout library and no load modelling. It is a recovery layer that runs alongside a planning platform.
- Does Loadwell read my athletes' Garmin or Strava data?
- No. Oura is the only wearable integration available today, and there is no connection to Garmin, Strava or any training platform.
- Is it useful for endurance specifically?
- Yes, though nothing in it is endurance-specific. Sleep and HRV trends against a personal baseline suit high-volume training well, which is covered on the endurance coaches page.
